Private sector
A lot of information managed by organizations has a spatial component. A product is produced somewhere and then moved over a route. A customer or prospect is located on a certain location just like a branch, a representative or a service engineer.
This is why more and more organisations use a Geographical Information System (GIS) to take better decisions, further develop their markets, manage existing branches or open new ones, increase customer satisfaction, have a better understanding of people’s buying behaviour, define target groups and many more things.
Using GIS, you can base your your decisions at the operational and strategic levels on exact geographical analyses. Effectiveness and efficiency of the business processes will then be enhanced, the sales volume will increase and the costs lowered.
Applications
A company’s data and business processes are the starting point for a GIS. This can refer to, for example, the following systems:
- Location or network planning Predict the success of a new branch based on the environment variables.
- Areas and reporting Plan sales areas or dealer areas, taking into account accessibility and catchments.
- ‘On the road’ Be aware of where your service personnel and representatives are to improve planning.
- Know your customers Locate prospects based on information of the spatial buying behaviour of existing customers.
- Routing Define the quickest route from A to B and define the accessibility of branches. What is the quickest route for salesmen for visiting a certain number of customers. Show customers the shortest route to a branch.
- Localisation Quickly find a location. Find a street in a certain place in The Netherlands or a road number or place in Europe.
- Planning and management Be aware where works are required. In what premises reparations have been made in a certain period of time, where your network is and what the taxation is by segment. Define interesting locations or areas for outreach purposes.
- Delivery Prepare distribution plans in such a way so as to minimise ‘waste’ by only sending mails to your specific target group. Optimise your deliverers’ deliveries by having them deliver as much as possible in as little time as possible.
And there are many other applications still. It is a pleasure for us to combine your knowledge of your business processes with our expertise in spatial analyses to find a solution that makes work easier for you.
