NUTS3 map of the European Union

On January 1, 2007, Bulgaria and Romania joined the EU, Croatia and the Republic of Macedonia were added as a candidate country (CC). After this expansion, the current NUTS division contains 27 EU countries, 4 European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries and 3 candidate countries (CC). The release is referred to as the 2006 version because the current NUTS hierarchy was approved by the EU in 2006.

Content data set

The data set produced by Geodan consists of 4 NUTS levels: NUTS 0 to NUTS 3. For every area, the official NUTS codes and the NUTS names are provided. The NUTS code is used to link Eurostat data to the map. Besides, the dataset contains a couple of Eurostat statistics and reference data, such as: major cities, rivers, lakes and an altitude relief map.

For giving anyone a chance to easily obtain information on the European Union, Eurostat collects data on all European member countries. These data are published online and are available free of cost. This database used to be known as NewCronos.Eurostat publishes data on agriculture and horticulture, demography, economy, education, environment, migration, science and technology, healthcare, tourism, and transportation and energy.
