What is it?
eEarth mobile application, developed by Geodan researchers
Mobile communication has become so commonplace that any time any place, we have the means of communicating with whoever we want. We live today in a world in which we have become used to being able to access information any time, anywhere, on demand. However, the applications in the world of communication are still basically in their infancy, while mobile devices are already powerful enough for complex applications. A complete PC, for example, can fit in the palm of your hand.
Why is Geodan involved?
The technology built as standard into today’s mobile devices – GPS receivers and the already mentioned Touch Interfaces – offers possibilities for Location Based services and Location Aware applications for both consumers and professionals, of which we have so far barely touched the surface.
What is Geodan doing about it?
In the development of mobile applications, Geodan has long been a pioneer, and aims to maintain and expand this position, for example through participation in the European eWater project, in which Geodan is building a prototype for a mobile application capable of accessing geohydrological data from various online data sources.
