Our organization

Our geo-ICT company has been around for more than 30 years and its 170 employees now work in branches in Amsterdam and ‘s-Hertogenbosch. At the helm, we find Henk Scholten, Evert Meijer, Theo Thewessen and Henri van Mil.

Co-founder of Geodan

Henk Scholten

“The issues we face today are becoming increasingly complex, from modifications prompted by climate change to spatial planning and infrastructure management. We can only tackle these issues if we make sure we have correct information at our disposal and share knowledge from various fields and disciplines. In recent years, we have worked on laying an important foundation for this at Geodan. Our colleagues have backgrounds in all fields and disciplines you could imagine and use location as an umbrella concept to integrate, analyze and visualize data. Over the past 30 years, we have succeeded in becoming a reliable partner for the government and for private companies. Managing an organization like ours is incredibly satisfying.”
> Co-founder of Geodan and responsible for innovation and research. Professor of Spatial Informatics at VU University Amsterdam’s School of Business and Economics (SBE).

“I am fascinated by how the combination of geography and information technology has developed ever since I studied social geography at VU University Amsterdam and since Geodan opened its doors in 1985. It is becoming increasingly clear that geo-ICT will come to play an important role in tackling social issues.
I love working at the cutting edge, developing innovations and working on relevant solutions with passionate, motivated colleagues. For supermarkets and authorities and for environmental institutes and parties looking to combat deforestation in Borneo.”
> Co-founder of Geodan and responsible for finance, facilities and control.

Director of Operations

Theo Thewessen

“Geodan’s strength is our capacity for innovation. I enjoy seeing how we continue to manage to tap into new markets with new concepts and technologies. The "power of location" is now widely recognized. I remember well that when I graduated at Wageningen - as far back as 1987 - the word GIS didn’t even exist yet. Nowadays, ‘location’ is ubiquitous, and you can even make your own contribution. As a cartophile/GPS enthusiast, for instance, I try to mountain bike along as many unpaved paths and roads in Brabant as possible, mapping and sharing them online in the process. In the past, this would have been impossible. What the world of GIS will look like 25 years from now? I think location will have become even more important in our daily lives, but I couldn’t tell you in which shapes & forms this will happen. In any case, I believe that Geodan will still have a major role to play.’
> Responsible for operations. Lecturer in Location Intelligence at HAS University of Applied Sciences in Den Bosch since 2015.

“Brimming with enthusiasm and passion, we always strive to be ahead of the curve and create beautiful things. We are always looking for technological innovations that let our customers take the next step. Sustainable and future-proof. A special aspect of our company is that for us, together actually means together. We work together, give each other space and trust each other. All in all, we are a real people’s company. Of course things go wrong every now and again, but our shared passion always sees us come together in the end.
